Carmen Ridley - Biography
AASB Board Member, Carmen Ridley started her career as an auditor with one of the Big 4 in the UK, prior to moving to Australia to continue this role. After 10 years as an external auditor, she moved into an Audit and Accounting Technical Role. Subsequently, Carmen branched out and began running the technical auditing and accounting divisions of a couple of mid-tier firms. These roles involved:
- interpretation and analysis of new and existing pronouncements from the Standard setting boards;
- development and presentation of training sessions to clients and staff;
- providing solutions to accounting issues faced by clients in accordance with the standards;
- review of financial statements; and
- attending accounting and auditing discussion groups.
In 2010, Carmen started her own independent financial reporting consulting business - Australian Financial Reporting Solutions www.afrs.com.au. This business provides the role of a Technical Auditing and Accounting Division for a range of clients and ensures that she keeps up-to-date and aware of current accounting and auditing issues and has established her as a recognised expert in the Financial Reporting Arenas.
Carmen is a key speaker for CPA Australia, having written and presented a number of their Financial Reporting Professional Development Courses and is a regular speaker at CPA Congresses and Conferences. She is also a regular contributor to the professional accounting body publications, including Charter, InTheBlack and National Accountant and is also an associate of GAAP Consulting network.
In 2011, Carmen commenced an ongoing assignment to update the Australasian CaseWare Working Papers FinancialsIFRS template. Carmen will continue to author content updates and improvements for future versions of this template.
