How to Create/flag an Issue in CaseWare

Issues are a very powerful tool when using CaseWare Working Papers for Audit.
They are an invaluable feature which tracks (electronically) any further work needed to be conducted on the engagement file.

Issues can be assigned to any of the following items:

  • The Audit engagement file as a whole
  • Any document on the document manager
  • CaseView document cells and paragraphs

To create an issue for the audit engagement file

  1. Open the Issues Pane.
  2. Right-click within the screen and from the menu, select New Issue. The appropriate screen will appear.
  3. Fill out the New Issue screen (click the Help button for assistance).
  4. Click OK. The issue will be created.

To assign/create an issue for a document:

  1. Right-click the document on the document manager.
  2. From the menu, select Add New Issue. The appropriate screen will appear with the selected document appearing.
  3. Complete the New Issue screen.
  4. Click OK. The issue will be created.

To assign / create an issue for a CaseView cell / paragraph:

  1. Ensure the appropriate CaseView document is open.
  2. Right-click the cell/paragraph you wish to add the issue. The Issue screen will appear in CaseView.
  3. Complete the New Issue screen.
  4. Click OK. The issue will be created.

Note: Clicking on the document hyperlink of an issue which has been assigned to a CaseView cell / paragraph will; open the CaseView Document and highlight the cell / paragraph assigned to the issue.
